Land Transportation

Land transportation this week was so much fun! We started off with cars: the children got to show and tell their cars that they brought in. We then got to paint with cars where we practiced making straight lines.
We then moved onto trains and trucks. The children have been loving it and eagerly talk about the different ones they know.
We did transportation matching lessons, car color coding, and fine motor car activities.

We even created our own traffic light and got to explore in a transportation themed sensory bin!

Five Senses - Week 2

It was a great week finishing up our five senses unit. We touched upon the sense of sight and the sense of touch. Boy, were the children surprised when they saw paint and no paint brushes - finger painting was so much fun for them and really builds hand eye coordination, as well as fine motor skills.
We also got to watch with our eyes a volcano experiment! We finished up with our five senses book, which we hope you all will enjoy of your children exploring with their senses.

Senses of touch- touching different textured items and sticking them into the wall

Sensory bin- touching salt, smelling, seeing the colors the chalks make, hearing the sounds it makes..

Five Senses

We started our five senses unit this week. The children have been enjoying it a lot! Monday started out with the sense of hearing. The children had to guess the different sounds we played, and they also created their very own musical kazoos.

We then went into the sense of taste. Snack time was definitely very interesting that day - the children got to taste different food  from celery to lemons, craisins to pretzels, and carrots to cucumbers.
Some loved it and some did not!

We ate a lemon and saw who liked it and who didn't

We created edible oatmeal play dough and worked those fine motor muscles!

The last sense for the week was smell. We learned about different smells- some good and some not so great. We then got to paint with spices!

We ended off the week learning about the letter B and the sound it makes. We played with kinetic sand and made lots of B's with it.
